This is a little shop called 'Body Works'. Owned by a retired gentleman by the name of Gregory Cline DeWitt Balch, also known as Old Man Balch. He's been married for fifty-two years to his high school sweetheart, Patricia Jane Clairmont. Mrs. Balch spent most of her time in their house, in the back behind the store while he looked after their retail establishment.
Mr. DeWitt tried his best to scrub off a red stain on one of the coats of armor, when a man entered. The cow bell bounced off the glass a few times that hung from the push bar.
'How are you?' Mr. Balch placed a sanitized rag over the stain.
'I'm all right. Yourself?'
'Fine, just fine. How can I help you?'
'I've been meaning to drop in for a while. You have yourself quiet a selection here. Very, unique.'
'Unique indeed, sir. Do you collect?' Mr. Balch gestured a hand shake.
He accepted with a smile and answered, 'no, I wanted to stop by and see what you had. Very exciting.'
'Take a look around and take your time.'
'Yes sir, I better be on my way, thank you. I wanted to see what the Body Works was about.'
'Come back anytime. Take care. We're open seven days.'
'Yes, sir, take care.'
The cowbell bounced again against the glass, then Mr. Balch picked up his small towel to continue.
'I'm serious Wade, this old man is loaded. His house is behind the shop. There's nothing in the shop worth taking, so that's why we're going in the house.'
They parked across the highway from the store and both stepped out with a pillow case in hand. They entered there house by breaking the glass on the door and reaching in to unlock the door.
'Split up to cover more of the house.'
Garvin stopped in front of a door with a sign that read: PERSONNEL. He quietly opened the door, and it slowly shut behind him.
Wade loaded his pillow case, when he thought he heard something. He whispered Garvin's name but heard no reply. He thought Garvin had left, and became scared before he dashed out the door.
He opened the driver's side door, but Garvin must have remained in the house. When he looked out the window, he noticed a light turned on in the house. He started the engine then decided that Garvin from here would be on his own.
That following morning, Wade entered the Body Works shop. 'Good morning.'
'Good morning,' the owner replied.
'Did you see those police cars last night?'
'No, I don't think I did.'
'I thought they came here.'
'No, not here.'
'Well, I wanted to make sure that you are all right. I seen a couple of squad cars come this way.'
'No, not here. Thank you anyway.'
'All right. Good-bye.'
'Good-bye.'
The cow bell did its job.
'I guess that was your friend from last night. I noticed a lot of items missing, but I didn't find any on you. I'm going to let him go, besides he's in shock about as much as you are,' the old man said, then patted a body of armor on the shoulder.
