A guy goes to a convention center.
There is a table that is promoting a pool table manufacturing products.
He goes to the table and talks to the woman there.
He asks if they can play a game.
They play.
He has a lot of questions for her.
She easily beats him fast.
He says thanks for the game. On his way from the table he asks if they can play again sometime. She says yes and to meet at her work where they make the pool products.
He goes there and she gives him a tour of the place. Ready for your rematch?
They play and again she beats him. In his way out he asks can we continue to play and if I ever beat you would you go on a date with me.
She says You'll never get a date that way.
He goes to a pool hall and watches everyone and he sees an elderly man coaching his grand daughter. He approaches him and asks if he is a pro or a teacher. He says back in his prime no one could beat me. He tells him he needs to learn how to play. He tells him he would pay him. He asks why do you want to learn? Tournaments? Go pro? Leisure? He tells him he wants to fall in love with a woman but he has to beat her in a game first.
As he teaches him, he wonders how many games will be played before he can beat her. How long has she been playing. She understands the geometry of the game. This game is like any other game, it gets into your soul. If you're going to beat her anytime soon, this has to be your life. You'll have to forget about her and concentrate on the game. Every shot is different. Different speed, different angles. You need to know that everytime it's your turn, you must sink at the least four balls. You have to practice with just the que ball and one other for hours everyday.
Oh my goodness. I had no idea that it would take all of this. I don't know if I can do it at the way you're describing it. I thought it was just a game of luck and where the ball is.
To some people, this isn't just a game. It's a way to make it through life. Once you understand how it really works, you will play to make her think she isn't going to win. She'll start making mistakes. She'll get behind in sinking balls. Even being down by one isn't exceptable. But if you don't think you can do it then you won't be able to.
They meet again to play. He watches her play. He watches her eyes. Each shot her eyes are saying something different. If it's an easy shot, he eyes are relaxed. The more her eyes are serious, the more time it takes to que up. She backs away, her eyes relax. She's searching with her eyes, they're moving in all straight lines just like a geometric pattern. Her lips tighten defining the power she needs to deliver. She paces the rectangle field leading with her shoulders like the attack is eminent. Her eyes continue to glide along the invisible grid. I can never beat her, not in the condition of this. She's powerful. Domination. On a hunt. A quick victory at hand. Trying to get to the eight ball as fast as possible. The fast pace is a needful thrill, a must. I don't have this in me at the slightest compared to her. She is amazing to watch. She must have a clear mind to work like this. Nothing distracting. He was right, this is her life.
She wins again.
"Okay, I don't think we'll ever go on a date at this rate. Can you play tomorrow night?"
